green transportationAndrea Firmani says, “We walk everywhere, which is part of the reason we are raising our family right downtown.” She adds, “Luckily we have a good stroller with a big basket on it!”

Sharilyn Kuehnel shares, “We used to be a part of the car coop, then we bought a car, which we usually use only for road trips. We walk, bike and scooter most places in town! Like Andrea mentioned above – it’s why we are raising our family downtown.”

Dr. Theresa Camozzi – Naturopathic Doctor says, “I walk to work and just about everywhere else. Like the other moms, this is why we chose our downtown neighbourhood.”

Drunk Ninja Mom shares, “I used to hate walking, but I do that a lot now. It’s fun walking with a baby stroller (but hard to walk with a three-year-old boy who just wants to run off!).” She also asks Sharilyn, “When you say scooter, do you mean an actual scooter or the ones like a skateboard with the handlebars? Sounds cool either way!” Sharilyn answers, “When I say scooter I mean the child powered variety – with handles and a skateboard. I tried a Vespa once and almost crashed!”

Finally, our Managing Editor Amber Strocel says, “We chose to send our kids to our neighbourhood school so that we could walk. It’s two less car trips every day that we walk instead of drive to school and back!”
