Whistler Winterlight 2026: The Cozy, Sparkly Weekend Vancouver Families Need to See
By late November, many Vancouverites know the mood. The rain won’t quit, the kids are bouncing off the walls and everyone needs something fun to look forward to. This year, that something is Whistler Winterlight, happening November 27 to 29.
Lights, Music and a Ferris Wheel
Winterlight takes over Whistler Olympic Plaza with glowing light displays, giant inflatable arches, a live DJ and hands-on activities for all ages. Families can wander the Village Stroll with a warm treat in hand, which is a pretty great way to spend an evening.
Then there’s the Ferris Wheel. Rides are $5 per person and the money goes to local charities. Kids need to be 48 inches tall to ride alone, or 42 inches with an adult. Arriving early gives you time to take a spin on the ferris wheel first, then wander the lights at a relaxed pace. The Ferris wheel line closes at 7 PM.
Getting in is free. Skating costs a little extra, and skate rentals are available. A few tips from the event team:
-Dress in layers, since it’s outdoors and goes ahead rain or snow.
-Treats are limited, so grab takeout from a Village spot
-Leashed dogs are welcome too.

Winter Starts Here
Here’s the bonus. Whistler Blackcomb is targeting a November 20 opening, so ski season will already be underway by Winterlight weekend. A family could spend the morning on first turns, stop for a hot chocolate at first après (or something stronger for the grown-ups), then head to Whistler Olympic Plaza for lights and music at night. It’s an easy way to ease into winter.
Come for More Than the Snow
Whistler Village is easy to love. Once the car is parked, everything is a short walk away. There’s award-winning dining, lively après, cute shops, spas for quiet reset, and outdoor adventures for every energy level. The whole Village is dressed up for the holidays too. Visitors can download the Go Whistler Tours app and follow the festive lights at their own pace.

Make a Getaway of it
Why rush home? Staying a little longer means enjoying Whistler at a slower pace as winter gets going. Staying in the Village keeps Winterlight, dinner and the slopes close by. Early season accommodation rates make planning easier, and a stay of 3 or more nights comes with a $100 shopping credit. Guests can use code SHOPWHIS when booking online, or call 1-800-944-7853 and mention the offer.
