Mom’s Day Out: 4 fun things to do!
Snowshoeing on Grouse Mountain
Snowshoeing is a great way to try something new and meet new people. There are weekend ladies-only clinics and beginner clinics on Grouse. Both clinics are 4 week sessions and run until the end of March. Make sure you dress appropriately for an outdoor workout: synthetic tights or pants, light layers, a shell jacket and sturdy hiking boots or running shoes. The clinic includes rentals, clinic instruction and entry into the annual Snowshoe Grind Challenge in February.
Cooking Classes at Posh Pantry
Spend an afternoon in the Posh kitchen on your own (or with a friend!) and learn some great skills to inspire you. There are numerous classes throughout the week where you’ll learn how to create everything from homemade gnocchi to elaborate sugar cookies. After the baking classes, you get to take your creations home. After the cooking classes, you get to sit down to enjoy your masterpiece with the rest of the class. And the best part? BYOWine, so you can get the complete gourmet meal experience.

Bowen Break: A day of yoga on Bowen Island
How about a full day away to practice yoga inside a small geodesic dome in a forest on a small island? Take the ferry to Bowen Island for a mini day retreat to recharge. The morning starts with a vinyasa practice, followed by lunch and a grounding yin class in the afternoon. And you’ll be back home in time for dinner! (Unless you decide to book a B&B and stay a little longer!)
Spa Day at Willow Stream
If you want to really treat yourself, spend a day at Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Pacific Rim. The spa has been named one of the Best Spas in the World, and it’s not hard to see why. Guests are encouraged to linger before and after their treatments to take full advantage of their spa facilities, including tranquil lounges, a steam room, an outdoor deck featuring private jacuzzis, an infrared sauna, meditation pods and a movement studio. And if you get hungry while relaxing in the jacuzzi and taking in the views of the north shore mountains, you can order off their full spa lunch menu and wine list.
