Five Cocktail Bars for Date Night
I love date night, and I sure love cocktails, although I never, ever, not-even-one-time feel like getting out of my pjs and away from Netflix after 8 pm. But on the rare occasions that I do pull myself together with earrings and heels and eyeliner, I want to enjoy myself in the most grown-up place possible. Nothing is better than lounging in a cocktail bar, sipping something exotic and pretending that the laundry, dishes, broken crayons, school lunches and runny noses simply don’t exist.
Here are some faves for those nights when the stars align and a perfect date night (and cocktail) is within reach…
Top cocktail spots
The Lobby Lounge at the Pacific Rim Fairmont is worth the splurge. Enjoy the piano, the atmosphere, the expertly mixed cocktails and mingle with the who’s who of the Vancouver scene.
Juniper Kitchen & Bar is an homage to all things gin. Sip through the G&T menu and enjoy each gin paired with its own artisanal tonic and garnish. Try the Bava for a bourbon aficionado, or the Wing Sang for a lover of the eclectic.
The Acorn Restaurant has arguably one of the best signature cocktail lists in the city. And of course, the food isn’t bad either; you may even go home vegetarian.
The chic Uva Wine & Cocktail Bar boasts a multi-page cocktail list and extensive by-the-glass wine options including their inspired flights of red, white and bubble. Pair with the Southern jazz on a Saturday nights for the ultimate night out.
For a cozy and more casual option, try The Oakwood Canadian Bistro for a succinct but well curated cocktail list in laid-back Kits. Accompany with one or two of their locally sourced share plates.
Next time you trade in flannel for silk, enjoy the best sips the city has to offer.
