Vancouver Mom > restaurants

I love date night, and I sure love cocktails, although I never, ever, not-even-one-time feel like getting out of my pjs and away from Netflix after 8 pm. But on the rare occasions that I do pull myself together with earrings and heels and eyeliner, I want to enjoy myself in the most grown-up place…

Sometimes, only a burger will do. And when picky eaters abound, a great burger place hits the spot.

When the fridge is bare and tiny bellies are rumbling, it’s great to know there are plenty of places open 24/7 in Vancouver.

This week’s Mom to Follow is Vancouver mom Manda Aufochs Gillespie, a consultant, writer, environmentalist, mother, and the author of Green Mama: Giving your child a healthy start and a greener future. In her 20 years as an ecological designer, she has worked to green institutions and families all around the world and has been dubbed the “green guru” by the media, appearing on HBO, ABC, and CBC.

Dine Out Vancouver is a perfect time to get your fill of some of Vancouver’s culinary gems. From Monday, January 24 to Sunday, February 6, get three-course, prix-fixe meals at over 210 restaurants for $18, $28 or $38.

I’ll credit Felicia Lee for letting me in on this little gem. A few weeks ago, I met her for a business meeting at Whole Foods, centrally located at Cambie and 8th Ave in Vancouver. At first, I thought it was a bit unusual to meet in a grocery store’s cafe, but as soon as I arrived, I understood why. Whole Foods on Cambie is the perfect spot for moms. It’s great to meet other moms socially or to get out of your home office for a few hours – and get a few things errands done at the same time.
