Events Happening around Metro Vancouver in April!

April is around the corner, and with the current sunshine we have been getting, we’re having all the spring feels.
This month isn’t just about Easter, we have events listed to get you out of the house and into the sunshine. Here are some fun events happening around Metro Vancouver in April.

Vandusen Botanical Garden Spring Family Programs

Abbotsford Tulip Festival

If you haven’t made it out to Lakeland Flowers yet, this is your sign. Starting in April, their Abbotsford Tulip Festival takes over 35 acres with tulips and wildflowers, making it Canada’s premier tulip festival. Then in mid-May, peonies and lupins take the stage. Wander the rows, snap some photos, and soak it all in while live music and open-air pianos play around you. There are also giant Dutch klompen, vintage bicycles, swings, and elevated viewing platforms to explore. It’s a full experience, not just a pretty backdrop.

When: April 13 – June 15, 2026
Time: 6am-830pm daily
Where: Lakeland Flowers, 3663 Marion Rd, Abbotsford, BC

Harrison Tulip Festival

This one is worth the drive. The Harrison Tulip Festival is 45 acres, 14 million blooms, and 150 tulip varieties across the fields. As Canada’s largest tulip festival, this year is extra special as it marks the Onos family’s 20th annual festival.

Beyond the flowers, there is a lot to do including the Night Garden on select evenings, a Bloom Bar to make your own bouquet, sunrise yoga in the fields, floral workshops, food trucks, and a new Dutch street food wagon.

Bonus: there is a new shuttle running from Lougheed Shopping Centre in Burnaby on select dates. (check their website for times)

Metropolis at Metrotown turns 40

BC’s biggest mall is throwing itself a two-month birthday party and it looks really fun. Metropolis at Metrotown is celebrating 40 years with nostalgia-inspired installations, throwback displays, and community events. Think infinity rooms, an interactive memory wall, disco balls, and hanging blossoms throughout the centre. There are also special events sprinkled in, including flower markets, DJ dance parties, DIY charm workshops, and a finale party on June 14. A great excuse to head to Metrotown this spring.

Shrek The Musical

If your kids grew up on Shrek, this one’s a no-brainer. Royal City Musical Theatre is bringing Shrek The Musical to The Massey Theatre in New Westminster. from April 17 to May 3, 2026. Expect big laughs, dazzling costumes, and that sweet message about just being yourself. Perfect for a family night out this spring.

Tess’ Red Dress Book Launch

Such a meaningful event to have on your radar. Massy Books and Medicine Wheel Publishing are hosting the launch of “Tess’s Red Dress: Honouring Love and Family” by St’at’imc and Sto:lo author Carolyn Roberts. The event also features Lorelei Williams, founder of Butterflies in Spirit, whose powerful work honours Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and a welcome by Musqueam member Audrey Siegl. Kids are welcome, morning pastries and coffee provided, and books will be available for purchase.

Such a sweet one for families! Local mom and author-illustrator is bringing her children’s picture book The Mischief of Griff to Indigo Granville. Stop by to meet her, hear the story behind Griff, watch a live digital illustration demo, and get your copy signed. A fun, creative outing for little ones and a great way to support local.
