Wine Not? 3 BC wines every Vancouver mom should try

The kids are sound asleep, you are getting ready to curl up and watch a good movie, you have an olive and cheese plate ready, and are going to pour yourself a soothing, tasty glass of vino. Or, perhaps, you are having a much-needed girl’s night, and you are all set to just gab and catch up, over some wine and tasty eats. Either way, sounds great. All you have to do is make sure to grab the perfect bottle of wine for the occasion.

Living in BC means plenty of selection, so you can’t really go wrong. However, here are 3 must-trys. These ones tick off the following check-boxes:  a) prize-winning, b) available in most stores year round, and c) reasonably priced (under $20).  If that’s what you need, look no more.

Dreamcatcher – Nk’Mip Cellars, Osoyoos

This is a blend of various white wines, including Riesling, Sauv Blanc, Pinot Blanc and more. It has a vibrant and unique fruity taste and pairs well with salads, soft cheeses, simple seafood dishes, and lemon chicken.

Riesling – Gray Monk, Okanagan Centre

This is citrusy, fruity and very lively wine. It pairs well with most foods, from salads to sushi to just having it on own chilled.

A full bodied red wine that combines flavours of strawberries and spice, in a good way. It pairs well with pork, duck, salmon, garlic and herbs, also gouda or gruyere cheese.
