Car Free Day Surrey
June 6, 2025, 12pm-8pm, Surrey Newton, on 137th Street (between 72A & 74 ave)
Join the community for a lively, car-free celebration in Newton! This will transform into a pedestrian-friendly festival with live music, family activities, artisan vendors, and delicious food trucks . This free, all-ages event promotes active transportation and supports local businesses. Leave the car behind and enjoy a day of community spirit and fun.
Steveston Spot Prawn Day
June 6, 11am-5pm, From the Fisherman’s Wharf to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery (Steveston Village Area)
Head to Steveston for the biggest day of the Spot Prawn & Seafood Celebration! There’s so much happening between Fisherman’s Wharf and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, including live music, a culinary stage with local chefs, a kids zone with fish printing and face painting, and Circus West performing throughout the day. Bonus: free admission to the Cannery museum, where World Ocean Day festivities are also in full swing.
Glow Up Dance Party
June 6, Site B Community Centre, Port Moody, 11am-1230pm & 1pm-3pm
Looking for a fun way to kick off summer with the kids? GLOW UP is a glow-themed dance party for families with live DJ, interactive games, glow lights, and a whole lot of energy. It’s happening June 6 at Site B Community Centre in Port Moody with two sessions to choose from, 11am or 1pm. Ages 3 and up, and yes, parents are very much part of the fun too.
Vancouver Maritime Museum
June 7, 10am-5pm, 1905 Ogden Ave., Vancouver
The Vancouver Maritime Museum is doing Pay What You Can admission, so it’s a great low-key family outing without the guilt of full ticket prices. Explore the exhibits, step aboard the historic St. Roch, and catch special guests from the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (yes, including Salty the Seagull) and Parks Canada.
Italian Day on the Drive
June 14, 2026 – 12-8pm, on Commercial Drive, Free entrance
The Drive is the epicentre of Italian culture in the city, and this fest is the largest one-day cultural street festival in Vancouver with a 14 block party. A festive community embrace, The Drive comes alive in green, white and red with piazza style animated zones, live music, food, patios, fashion, retail vendors, vehicles, activities, children’s zones and more.
Doors Open Richmond
June 6 & 7, 10am – 4pm, Richmond Museum
Richmond’s Doors Open Richmond event is bringing over 40 cultural, historical, and heritage sites to life, completely free, with special events happening across the city.
Some highlights include a journaling workshop at Richmond Public Library led by poet Selina Boan (a lovely nod to National Indigenous History Month), a behind-the-scenes tour of Richmond City Hall, and a heritage talk at the restored Britannia Shipyard building. Some events require pre-registration, so check ahead before you head out!
FIFA 2026 Events and Watch Parties in Vancouver

National Indigenous Peoples Day
Celebrate National Indigenous Day at various locations with a community-based, full day of events. Bard on the Beach is back at Vanier Park and this year’s lineup is genuinely exciting. On the main stage, there’s a music-filled, soccer-themed take on The Merry Wives of Windsor (very on brand for Vancouver this summer) alongside a dark and intense production of Macbeth. In the smaller theatre, the wildly popular Goblin:Oedipus returns, turning a Greek tragedy into something unexpectedly hilarious, and it plays alongside a fresh, contemporary adaptation of Antigone. Cheer them on as they face off against top teams across the country at the home court this month in June and throughout the Summer.
