VM Mom to Follow: Tara Shayegan of Üphoria Yoga
This month’s VM Mom to Follow is Tara Shayegan, mom to a 21-month-old boy and co-founder of Üphoria Yoga, a new family yoga studio in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant.
Tara pivoted from a career that spanned early childhood eduction to finance. Once she became pregnant, she decided it was time to follow her dreams and open a business with her husband, Shayan.
They saw the need for a family-oriented yoga space for the community and opened up Üphoria Yoga.
Üphoria Yoga offers classes for all aspiring yogis, ages zero and up. In addition to adult yoga classes, the studio provides mat workouts, prenatal and postnatal classes, kids yoga, and family yoga classes — plus child-minding options, birthday parties, and parents’ nights out.
Vancouver places Tara loves to visit with her family
Seawall
Whether biking together as a family on the seawall to Granville Island or long walks at the Kitsilano beach, we enjoy being active. To balance my day, I take at least 15 minutes/day for a meditation practice with my son , whether it’s sitting still and hearing the sound of a waterfall by Robson law courts or practicing yoga poses together in the living room.
Aquaventures
My son has been taking swimming lessons at Aquaventures since he was one month old! I know how important physical literacy is from the very beginning. We started with a two-week Summer camp, which was a lot of fun for all of us.
Hinge Park
Whether it’s picnics at Hinge park or checking out the off leash dog park (Pasha loves dogs) or walking through the big rusty bridge which is constructed from sewer pipe and making our sounds echoed, this cozy park has it all.
Boat and airplane watching
Watching boats float in the ocean or searching for airplanes in the sky, this beautiful city view has got it all, mountains, ocean, beach and did I mention airplanes?
