Podcast: Talking Food with Denise Breyley of Whole Foods Markets

We think we have a pretty great job here at VancouverMom.ca. We love bringing urban moms the inside scoop on their city. We love where we live, and we love helping you to love it more, too. Even so, every once in a while we come across someone who has a job that is just as cool – and maybe even a little bit cooler – than ours. This is how we felt when we connected with Denise Breyley, our guest on today’s edition of the VancouverMom.ca podcast.

Denise Breyley’s official title is Local Forager for the Pacific Northwest Region of Whole Foods Market. That’s a mouthful, but what it really means is that she’s responsible for identifying great local producers, so that their products can be carried in local Whole Foods stores. She visits farms, bakeries, cheesemakers and so on, looking for fabulous food. As we said, it really is a cool job. In fact, she feels she just may have the best job in the world. We were excited to connect with her for our podcast.

With New Year’s Eve coming up soon, you may be looking for some great food ideas. Whether you’re throwing a big party, hosting an intimate get-together, or just looking to kick things up a notch for your own family, Denise is quick to offer her suggestions. From local cheeses to sweets to fruits, meats and seafood, she’s in the know about what’s in season, what’s unique, and what Vancouver has to offer. During our podcast, she offered loads of ideas, from gourmet meals to kid-friendly snacks, and everything in between.
