VM Picks: Top Vancouver Summer Camps, a Q&A with artmania
Looking for a creative or active summer camp? One that keeps the kids brains or bodies engaged? Well our VM Picks: Top Vancouver Summer Camps list features some of our favourite camps for kids. We connected with artmania about their creative fine arts camps for kids in their beautiful studio Dundarave Villages studio.
Give us a brief description of your camp
Artmania’s summer camps are held in our beautiful Dundarave studio in West Vancouver; the perfect inspirational environment to nurture a budding artist! We offer all types of classes for all ages. Our summer classes run Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm with three different art themes every week. Full day, half day and hourly classes are available.
What makes your summer camp unique?
Artmania is an established art school offering art classes for all ages and abilities. For the past 15 years, we’ve been a mobile art school, teaching lunch time, after school classes as well as artist in residences in elementary schools. Children love our programs and return to us, year after year and we love watching them grow along with us. Children quickly become comfortable with our set structure; leaving them at ease to embrace every opportunity we provide for self expression and exploration.
What are some of the highlights of your camp
We’re always introducing new projects and ideas at the studio! This summer, we’re excited to include some structural engineering in our art classes! In the beginning of summer, we’ll study Frank Gehry’s famous sturdy stools and students will be taught how to design, sketch and plan out the steps needed to construct their own stool.
What will kids learn at your camp
Artmania introduces children to a wide range of art practices including architecture and design, the ancient art of molding wood, resin art, clay, printmaking, playing with solar rays and more. Our wonderful team of experienced instructors lead your children in fun filled days of art. We’ll take advantage of beautiful weather and lovely surroundings to include the outdoors in art and play.
Give us a quick tip(s) on how to prepare kids for camp?
Children must come equipped with a lunch or snack, a bottle of water, sunscreen and hat to each day of the camp. Some of our classes will be held outdoors, so pack accordingly. We’ll provide all the inspiration they need! If parents anticipate their child will have anxiety over taking any camp, start preparing them now. Artmania is always open for providing a tour of our gallery.
