Laura Millin is a Vancouver wedding and portrait photographer. Her company Magnolia Photographic offers family, baby, child, maternity and boudoir photography for people who want artistic, creative, and beautiful images.

Why did you get into photography?

I come from a family of amateur photographers, and it was my dad who first put a “professional” camera in my hands at the age of 12. I loved photography so much I pursued it in college, and developed my style through both a journalism and photography education. It was through my college years that I discovered a simple truth – I love photographing people! I realized that everyone has a story, and that I could reflect those stories through my photographs – thus I started Magnolia Photographic.

Tell us a bit about your company.

As a wedding and portrait photographer, I get to photograph people through many life-stages. Therefore, I offer several different services, such as wedding, maternity, baby, child, and family photography. I’m a one-woman business, so personalized customer service is paramount – I aim to create a fabulous experience for every client, in terms of their photos, customer service, and beautiful finished products.

How would you characterize your style of photography?

Relaxed, creative, and professional!

Who are your clients?

Anyone and everyone who wants more than just photography – they want art! I really strive to create artistic images for my clients, and those who commission me for their session appreciate that; they want images that portray their lifestyle and love for each other – they want images that are different!

What should your mom clients expect when working with you?

Expect enthusiasm and creativity and a fun photo shoot! I love to let kids be kids – photographing them running around, playing, just doing what kids do is how I get my best shots. My images are backed up by a fabulous range of custom-made products, such as albums, framing, canvas prints, and much more.

Anything else to add?

For those moms who want something just for themselves, and maybe also for their hubby – I offer boudoir photography! It is such a fun experience to photograph women who feel sexy and beautiful and want to celebrate it! I’ve photographed all age ranges, all body types, and every one of them is gorgeous. Not only is it a rewarding experience for my clients, but it is rewarding for me when I hear how my photos made them feel so confident and beautiful.
