Canadian Gas Fireplace Class Action: Sponsored

Do you own, lease or otherwise occupy private property containing a gas burning fireplace, fireplace insert or heating stove? Don’t get burned. There’s a class action suit going on.
If it came from one of the Settling Defendants CANADIAN HEATING PRODUCTS INC., MILES INDUSTRIES LTD., MONESSEN HEARTH CANADA, INC., and MONESSEN HEARTH SYSTEMS COMPANY (doing business as VERMONT CASTINGS GROUP), your legal rights could be affected. Under a proposed class action settlement, those Settling Defendants are offering barriers intended to prevent burns from the hot glass fronts.
A class action lawsuit commenced in December 2012 in the Supreme Court of British Columbia alleging that certain manufacturers supplied gas fireplaces, fireplace inserts and stoves that are a danger to anyone who touches the hot glass and in particular are a danger to young children. On May 19, 2015 the court will be asked to approve a Canada-wide settlement that will provide free of charge to Class Members a protective screen or barrier.
