Oh hot weather – the ice cream and gelato shops must be thanking their lucky stars because it doesn’t look like it’s ending any time soon.
Bella Gelateria is regularly voted best in Vancouver, but did you know they’ve won best in the world in Italy!? Those line-ups are long for a reason.
Favourite flavours
“Love the artisanal gelato, especially the decadent chocolate flavours,” said contributor Claudia Laroye.
My personal favourite is the salted caramel, and as you can see above, they manage some kind of dark gelato magic to get that huge scoop to stay on my cone. My six year old’s favourite is mint chocolate chip, and my husband finds it difficult to choose anything but the whisky chocolate.
Vancouver mom Stephanie Baufeld says the lemon is her favourite. Bella is relentlessly local, so if something you love is in season, they’ve probably made it into gelato.

Who can say no to pizza and gelato?
Both locations are near beautiful stretches of seawall, Coal Harbour and Yaletown respectively, so it’s easy for small people to wiggle around and drip everywhere. The Coal Harbour location has more inside seating and serves pizza as well.
With more locations planned, including West Vancouver and Main Street, Bella Gelateria looks like it may take over the world.
