Top 30 Vancouver Mom Bloggers: Congratulations to Melissa Carr!
In early May you nominated your favourite Vancouver mom bloggers for our 2012 Top 30 Vancouver Mom Bloggers contest. We reviewed them, chose our top 30, and during the third week of May we profiled them all. They join our 2010 and 2011 Top Vancouver Mom Bloggers, and we’re thrilled to recognize each one of them. But just for fun, we gave you a chance to vote for your favourite mom bloggers on our list. More than 2000 votes were cast, and we’re pleased to announce that our winner is Melissa Carr of The Thirties Grind!
Top Vancouver Mom Blogger Melissa Carr
Melissa started her blog just a few months ago. She says, “For a really long time I was a writer who didn’t write. Then, in March, my husband bought me an iPad: total game changer for me…I wanted to write about topics that all my friends and I talk about in a way that was honest, funny and authentic. My Absurd Vancouver Property posts seemed to really hit a nerve…within a month of TheThirtiesGrind.com being live, I had over 100,000 visits to the site. People in Vancouver are fantastically passionate about real estate and the concept that home ownership is, for many here, so far out of reach. I also love addressing topics that women are still somewhat reserved in talking about (like postpartum depression, mommy guilt and sexuality). It feels so fulfilling to have a voice and an engaged audience who participate in this incredible, lively dialogue about really important topics.”
Melissa says that she was humbled and honoured to be listed as one of the 2012 Top 30 Vancouver Mom Bloggers. She says she’s read each of the other blogs on the list, and she feels we have some amazing writers here in Vancouver. At VancouverMom.ca we agree, which is why we created our list of top mom bloggers. When we told her she’d received the most votes, Melissa says she was stunned. She adds that she wants to find ways to continue writing about topics that are important to her and her community.
2012 Runners Up
Melissa isn’t the only blogger who received your support in the voting process. Runners up in the voting were:
- Tairalyn Ciulla of Little Miss Mama – Tairalyn describes herself as a “lover of all things pretty, sparkling and out of [her] budget”. She writes on many things, but we especially enjoy her fashion and DIY posts.
- Nat Nanton of Nat Nanton – Nat is the founder of Tutu Mama, a boutique that offers handmade tutus for your little one. She created NatNanton.com to empower and inspire moms. On her blog she says, “Becoming a mother has made me commit to living my greatest life.”
- Jessica Blumel of North Shore Mama – Jessica started North Shore Mama a few months ago to help connect local parents and let them know what’s going on in their community. You seem to agree she’s doing a great job!
Top 30 Vancouver Mom Bloggers
We’d like to honour and celebrate each and every one of our 2012 Top Vancouver Mom Bloggers. We’ll be throwing a party to celebrate them called Fabulous on June 13, 2012. You’re invited to come and celebrate, too. Here are the 30 bloggers we’ll be celebrating.
