How to make your visit to Metropolis at Metrotown super easy this holiday season

If you live in Metro Vancouver, chances are you’ll be hitting Metropolis at Metrotown this holiday season. BC’s largest shopping centre has everything you need, but it can get pretty madcap over the hols. Luckily, Metropolis has implemented all kinds of ways to make it easy to tick off everyone on your holiday list.

5 ways to make your visit to Metropolis at Metrotown super easy this season

1. Got questions? Text Guest Services

Shoppers can now text 604-359-9111 to reach Metropolis’ Guest Services for assistance while in the mall or planning their trip to the mall. Inquire about finding a store, mall hours, parking, children’s stroller, and more. This service is available during mall hours.

2. Visit Santa, and support those in need

Getting your shopping done and visiting Santa is a snap at Metropolis! Their popular Photos with Santa program is going strong already, and runs until December 24. With a minimum donation of $4 per photo, you’ll get a digital photo with Santa, and 100% of your donation will go to the Burnaby Christmas Bureau so you can see Santa AND give back, because really, isn’t that what the holidays are all about?

Pro-tip! This can’t be reiterated enough: GO EARLY – the man with the bag gets busier and busier as Christmas approaches.

3. Take advantage of extended holiday hours

Take advantage of the non-peak, extra hours to get your shopping done. The best time to go it first thing in the morning!

Metropolis offers extended holiday hours from November 29 through until Christmas Eve:

  • November 29: 8:00 am – 10:00 pm
  • December 1 – 18: 10:00am – 9:00pm – Daily (Expect Sundays: 10:00 am – 7:00 pm)
  • December 19 – 23: 10:00 am – 10:00 pm (Moonlight Madness )
  • December 24: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • December 26: 8:00 am – 10:00 pm

4. Get your gifts wrapped on-site

Who hates gift wrapping? Feel good about NOT wrapping your gifts by having creative volunteers from Burnaby Neighbourhood House and MS Society of BC/Yukon wrap them up by donation. Not only will your gifts look great (and free from prying eyes), but you’ll be giving back. Gift wrappers will be on deck from November 29 to December 24 with all proceeds going back to the charities. Gift wrap booths are located in front of The Disney Store on the Ground Level, and in front of Plenty on the Upper Level.

5. Purchase a gift card

Sometimes figuring out what to get someone is impossible (we’re looking at you Dad!), but a Metropolis’ gift card means the impossible-to-buy-for friend, child or relative can get whatever they want at the mall as well as 22 other Ivanhoe Cambridge shopping centres across Canada. Get one online at, at Guest Services, or at one of their dedicated holiday gift card kiosks.

In a nutshell, download the app, go early and take advantage of gift wrapping, visit the man in red, and when in doubt, pick up a gift card. Still got questions? Text guest services. Happy hols!
