Today’s Vancouver Mom: Mahnaz of Smallprint North Vancouver

Today’s Vancouver Mom is Mahnaz Fardghassemi of Smallprint Vancouver North. She recently moved back to Vancouver after living and working in Dubai for many years where she met her now husband and had their first child. When they found out they were pregnant with their second child, they decided it was time to come back home to Vancouver. After their second child was born, she looked everywhere to have her hand and foot print made into a jewelry keepsake, like she had done with her first child, but to her surprise it was not available here. So she started her business Smallprint Vancouver North where she creates “unique handmade silver jewelry that captures fingerprints, handprints, footprints or drawings as mementos of your little ones.”
Mahnaz’s favourite places to go!
El Camino
This is one just for me and the hubby – we love to escape to El Camino once in a while for date night. We love Tequila and they always play the best David Bowie classics.
3250 Main St, Vancouver
Arms Reach Bistro
This is me and hubby’s favourite place to go for date night, its close by to where we live and the food is amazing! Our favourite is a table by the window to get the amazing Deep Cove views.
107c-4390 Gallant Ave, Deep Cove, (604) 929 7442
Maplewood Farm
This is one of our frequented spots, very close to our house and it give our kids a chance to see all the animals up front and not just in the books. Just make sure you have rain boots on as it can get muddy!
Maplewood Farm, 405 Seymour River Place, North Vancouver, 604-929-5610
West Vancouver Memorial Library
We take our daughter here every Saturday for the amazing story time. After, we stay in the kid’s area where there is some toys, lots of books, and loaner iPads with great educational games on them! My daughter has her own library card and she checks out her own books at the kiosk.
1950 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, (604) 925-7400
Vancouver Aquarium
I know this is a well-known options, but it is one of our best rainy day spots! We can easily spend a couple of hours looking at the great exhibits! The biggest attraction for our house is the octopus just like Hank in Finding Dory! With their family pass you can pop in for an hour or two as often as you like.
845 Avison Way, Stanley Park, Vancouver, (604) 659-3474
Café Orso
This is where my girlfriends and I meet up for our weekly catchup! The coffee and double backed almond croissants are amazing, the staff makes you feel like you’re in a comfortable place to chat and entertain the kids before you head over to the park!
4316 Gallant Avenue, Deep Cove
Horseshoe Bay Park
We go there any chance we get, the park has a great playground with a giant whale that’s very fun for the kids to climb on. Our eldest loves looking at the ferries as they come and go. The best part is when we get hungry we cross the street for amazing fish and chips!
