Vancouver’s ice cream scene keeps growing like a gorgeous 20-scoop ice cream cone with every flavour under the sun. Whether it’s Adele raving in concert about Mister’s liquid nitrogen ice cream, or the genius concept of Gourmet Ice Cream Tours in Railtown, our city’s “cold gold” is definitely worth sampling.
Dip Ice Cream
Opened in May of 2016, this Kitsilano ice cream parlour is all about soft serve dipped in chocolate but this is not your run-of-the-mill soft serve nor your everyday chocolate. Owners Tanya Shklanka and Robyn Harding are Vancouver moms/BFFs who wanted to open an ice cream business that was ethically and environmentally aware, so they use homemade soft-serve using milk from family-run Birchwood Dairy in Abbotsford and Rainforest Alliance Certified chocolate for their dips.
You choose your soft serve, your dip (the green matcha tea dip was A+), and your toppings. Our kids had their cones topped with everything from Froot Loops and kettle corn to the never-fail classic, rainbow sprinkles. Co-owner fun facts: Tanya is a former chef and food anthropologist and Robyn’s a novelist and screenwriter.
