What is the mission and philosophy of your summer camp, and how does it align with Vancouver parents’ needs?
Our Summer programs in Art, Design, Dance, Theatre, Music, Film, and more provide young people ages 3-19 with an opportunity to discover new artistic passions, develop their existing skills, and enjoy the break alongside their peers. Half-day, full-day, single, and multi-week programs are available at our Granville Island and Surrey Centre locations.
What sets your camp apart from others in the area?
Our programs and intensives, led by our outstanding faculty, feature curricula designed by artistic leaders in consultation with arts education experts. Available for all ages and stages, from Early Learners (Ages 3-5) to teens seeking summer scholarship intensives with partners like the Contemporary Art Gallery or Urbanarium. Don’t miss our Summerstage Musical Theatre Intensive, Metro Vancouver’s only program where students stage a full Broadway musical in four weeks
Can you provide an overview of the activities and programs your camp offers during summer camp, and how they contribute to children’s development?
Arts Umbrella offers programs in Visual Arts (Drawing & Painting, Ceramics, Sculpture), Media Arts (Animation, Cartooning), Dance, Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Film Acting. Studies show that youth engaged in the arts experience increased social and emotional development, critical thinking, and improved verbal and math skills. Regular arts participation also enhances mental health, making it vital for our society’s future

Arts Umbrella graduates often pursue successful careers in the arts and beyond, using their arts education as a foundation for life. They can be found in prestigious post-secondary institutions worldwide, such as Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), UBC, and Studio 58. Additionally, many graduates perform with renowned theatre and dance companies like The Arts Club, Bard on the Beach, Nederlands Dans Theater, Kidd Pivot, Ballet Edmonton, Batsheva Dance Company, and others.
