Surrey Is Getting a New 10,000-Seat Arena
Big news out of Surrey this week. The City Of Surrey has announced plans for a brand new 10,000 seat arena at Surrey City Centre and it’s set to become one of the biggest entertainment hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Here’s what you need to know.
The arena will be built at the former Safeway site near King George Boulevard and 104 avenue, right by the Surrey City Hall and steps from Surrey Central Skytrain Station. It’s set to become the new home of the WHL’s Vancouver Giants, who are moving over from Langley Events Centre. Beyond hockey, the venue will also host concerts, events, and entertainment, giving Surrey a proper big-stage venue of its own.
The announcement came with a bit of star power too. Singer Michael Bublé was on hand to help make the reveal, and he told the crowd he plans to come back and perform once the arena opens.
To mark the occasion, Mayor Brenda Locke kicked off the first demolition on site, an early sign that construction is officially underway. The project comes with a 350 million price tag, funded through the city’s 2026 budget, and the target completion date is 2030.
