VM Mom to Follow: Gurpreet Mangat

This month’s Mom to Follow is Gurpreet Mangat, a mom to three daughters and an Early Childhood Educator with the City of Surrey. With over 10 years experience working with children aged 3-5 years, she is now sharing the tools and techniques she has learned throughout her journey as an educator and mom.

An avid yoga and meditation practitioner, Gurpreet has combined her interests and love for teaching children to implement mindfulness into her classroom. With the success she noticed while practicing these strategies with her own children and pres-choolars she has now sharing these lessons with parents through workshops, articles and Instagram.

Along with introducing mindfulness to children, she is a strong advocate for self care, and assists both educators and parents in finding a healthy balance between work, care taking, and self love. Her motto is “You can’t pour from an empty cup!”

Alouette Lake, Golden Ears Provincial Park

For those lazy lake days, Alouette Lake provides the perfect escape from everyday bustle of life. With a several areas to relax and a canoe rental on the lake, this makes for a great day everyone can enjoy!

Cleveland Dam, North Vancouver

With several hikes varying from short to long and the roaring water, Cleveland Dam makes for a great adventure with the kids! It’s also a short drive from the Capilano Suspension Bridge making it great for a full day of activities in the area.

Porteau Cove Provincial Park, Squamish

When I need a break from the busy city life and need to still my mind, Porteau Cove (between West Vancouver and Sqaumish) is my favourite peaceful spot. With sparkling waters, pebbly beach and the stunning drive never fails to put me at ease.

Mario’s Kitchen, Tsawwassen

I love coming to Mario’s all year round! The family owned restaurant has a beautiful patio for summer evenings and a cozy interior for those rainy days. With an extensive menu even the pickiest eaters can find something to love!
