Today's Vancouver Mom

Today’s Vancouver Mom is Robyn Adefowokan, Independent Peekaboo Beans Play Stylist and energetic mom of four: Tolu, 6, Jola and Jaiye , twin 4-year-olds and “baby” Teju who is 2. Peekaboo Beans is a local play wear company for kids on the grow. Robyn said, “Our clothes are designed for function, comfort and play. I bought our first Bean item second-hand and realized that I had been missing out, so it didn’t take us long to overhaul our wardrobe where now my boys wear 100% beans and my girls are at about 95%.” Believe it or not, getting ready with these four in the morning is actually pretty easy with our mix and match, no buttons and no fuss easy to dress yourself pieces. I have to say that getting to pick my kids outfits is one the best parts of my day #momlife.

Today’s Vancouver Mom’s favourite spots!

Maplewood Farm

I am a big fan of season passes because then you can drop in and you always have something in your back pocket to do. We have held an annual pass for the last 3 years. Maplewood Farm is the perfect place to take your toddlers and pre-schoolers.  We love to feed the ducks and rabbits and walk around the pond. Some days we just go and for a 30 min visit while others we stay until nap time.  There is also a nice gated playground in the parking lot that on a nice day you should allow extra time to check out,

BjornBar Bakery in Edgemont Village

My girls and I have a tradition that when a new line for Peekaboo Beans is released I pick my eldest daughter up from school and we head to our favourite spot to choose which items they love and they make their wish list while I order my Samples. The Bars are unique and delicious we like to try at least 1 new item each time we go but the girls love the meringues. The bakery is a great place to meet with friends, and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and of course to food is delicious. So next time you find yourself in Edgemont Village be sure stop in.

Soccer Turf Tots with the North Van Rec Commission

My kids are very active so I am always on the hunt for great programs that they enjoy. Well Turf Tots is my favourite! We started at 2 years old with the parent participation class for my twins while I had my baby in the Ergo. We sign up each session and my kids would go everyday if I would let them. My tip is to ask a mom friend to join and sign your kids up together!

Pink Petal Ballet

North Vancouver is lucky in so many ways. But for little girls starting out with Ballet the creator of this program Alix Dunham is a true gem not only do the children enjoy her classes but she focuses on teaching ballet in a fun, positive and life-affirming way making sure everyone feels loved and is heard and accepted.

St. Andrew Park

A fully gated park is important for a mom of multiples because as we all know they move fast and to every direction, We love this park as it has different areas to play my kids love the sand so that is probably the area we will be in but no matter where I am standing I can easily see where everyone is and that is my always my #1 priority.

Kids World Summer Pass

I have to take this opportunity to tell you about an amazing program for summer. We did it last summer and have our Kids World passes ready for this summer, Basically you buy a pass for $50 per child and there is something different for you to attend everyday of the summer all around the Lower Mainland.
You pick and choose which activities will work for your schedule and it is such a great way to try something new and get out of normal routine. I would say the best age for this program would be 4-8 year olds, but as I said we did it last year with my 2, 4, 4 & 6 year olds, and they absolutely loved it, as did I.

Mosquito Creek Trail

Living in North Vancouver we have so many wonderful options to get out and explore. I chose this trail as our favourite because not only does it have an easy path but also a creek that kids love to explore, a bridge to walk under, and a playground at the end. My little man has never loved being in his stroller but also gets tired of walking so we make sure we never go too far.
