Today’s Vancouver Mom: Ayanna Gibb of EnVie Langley

Today’s Vancouver mom is Ayanna Gibb, a fitness studio owner who lives in charming Fort Langley with her husband and two children. Her passions are family, food, dance/fitness and history. When this stay-at-home mom took up teaching Zumba, it only took a few years before she was ready for something bigger, something that lifted women up, brought them together and made a difference in the community. Thus EnVie Fitness was born. Her boutique fitness studio offers small group classes (over 60/week) with exceptional instructors (giving you the personal attention you need) and childcare. Talk about the perfect trifecta! “It is a community of women having fun and supporting each other,” she says.
Ayanna’s favourite spots to go around town
Blacksmith Bakery
This artisan bakery in Fort Langley is my second home. They make everything on-site and fresh daily. It is a little piece of heaven that my family can walk to in 5 minutes. I can’t get enough of the chocolate croissants, roasted veggie sandwiches, homemade soups and the pizzas.
Su Casa Spa
This is my favourite spa right in the heart of Fort Langley’s shopping village. It is my little getaway every chance I get and my annual birthday stop. They do many spa treatment, laser hair removal, brow/lash care, waxing and more. Sandra does best facial I have ever had!
Houston Trail
This is an awesome loop trail in Derby Reach Regional Park. It is completely forested throughout the whole hike and it is definitely not your typical flat hike. Our family loves to bring a picnic and fuel up before doing the loop. Once you are in the trail you feel like you are being hugged by trees. We always say it feels like we are in the Lord of the Rings.
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka
This amazing Japanese Noodle House at the West end of Robson Street specializes in ramen in pork bone broth. It is another favourite place we go when we are in Vancouver. The food is amazing, and the staff are welcoming – great customer service and always friendly.
Brae Island/Bedford Channel
Most people know about Brae Island in Fort Langley for camping, but we go there for the Bedford Channel. In the summer when the tide is out, we have our own little beach right across the river from our house (we are on the other side of the channel). My kids build sand castles, and we sit on our beach chairs eating snacks and hanging out with friends. I almost want to keep this one a secret.
French Made Baking
This is somewhere I have to stop when I go to Vancouver. It is in the little strip of stores on the corner of Kingsway and Broadway. The name says exactly what they do; amazing French baking. The pear and salted caramel sauce crepe is to die for and they have one of my favourite desserts that is very hard to find: caneles (French pastry infused with rum and vanilla-not to be mistaken with Italian Cannoli).
Mai’s Vietnamese Restaurant
We love Vietnamese food, and this is our go-to in Walnut Grove (Langley).
