Vancouver’s beloved Science World is hosting a speaking event called Through the Child’s Eyes: Playing and Growing. On November 23rd, the speaker will be Dr. Vanessa Lapointe, a registered psychologist and author, with her talk titled “See through the Child’s Eyes.”

Dr. Lapointe has written many books, including  ‘Discipline Without Damage’, and firmly believes that if each of us (parents/adults) could make it a point to look at, experience, feel, and know the world the way a child does, we would be infinitely more capable of responding to them in ways that resonate and aid their development.

Science World’s Playing and Growing speaker event will try to debunk some of the myths about play for our children and refocuses our attention on the true play that our growing children need room for in their lives. Included will be a discussion about how to differentiate play born of rest from performance driven play, and how to facilitate conditions in your child’s world so this kind of restful play has room to grow and blossom.

All proceeds go will go to building the new early learner’s gallery at Science World!
