Where to shop for the tea lover in your life
As tea lovers around the world are undoubtedly already aware – today is International Tea Day. Given the growing popularity of tea recently, we are willing to bet that most people have a tea lover on their holiday gift list. So to honour the day – and to help you with your last minute shopping – here are a few options.
Where to shop for the tea lover on your list
Silk Road Tea
Victoria tea lovers are very familiar with Silk Road Tea but they are a fairly new addition to the Vancouver scene. Their store on West 4th offers fresh, locally-made, organic teas that suit all tastes and ages. And we love that they carry several options for kids that are free of artificial flavours, colours or sweeteners AND gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and caffeine-free. Bring the kids in with you and let them choose their own flavour!

Never Grow Up at Neverland Tea Salon
This Kitsilano tea shop describes themselves as “an amalgamation of everything we love: celebration, decadence, ritual, whimsy, and creativity.” The decor is both decadent and cozy and from December 1-31 you can “never grow up” at a Holiday High Tea. There are special vegan and gluten-free menus available and the kids will love the little details like the tickle trunk filled with dress-up clothes that kids can wear while they drink high tea.
Reservations are recommended.

Murchies in Wesbrook Village
Most people think coffee when they hear Murchies but the company – one of Canada’s oldest brands – actually started out as a tea company. And their location in Wesbrook Village is a tea lovers dream! Pick up a box of their special Christmas Blend tea for a holiday treat – available in decaf too! – or select one of their Holiday Gift Baskets and save yourself the time and trouble of wrapping. While you’re there take the time to get a cup for yourself.

High Tea at The Secret Garden
This longstanding favourite in Kerrisdale is an institution for afternoon tea lovers in the city. For the month of December, they are featuring a Holiday High Tea with a special menu for both adults and kids. This is the perfect gift for a friend because you can give them your time as well. Book a table for two and take some time out from the busy season to relax, drink great tea and catch up.
