You Say: Your Favourite Vancouver Holiday Traditions

you say vancouver holiday traditions

Last week we asked you to share some of your favourite Vancouver holiday traditions with us, and you did! On our website, on Twitter, on Facebook and on Instagram, a lot of you are in the holiday spirit. With Christmas Eve upon us, we thought we’d take this opportunity to spread the holiday cheer by sharing how Vancouver moms are celebrating in this You Say feature.

Vancouver Moms Talk Tradition

On our website Cheryl K shared, “We love going to VanDusen gardens for the light show and last year we went to the Bloedel Conservatory for the first time to see their light display and the birds. We’re bird lovers.”

On Twitter @DanielleASigne, who just happens to be the City Leader for City Mom Now Fraser Valley, shared her family’s holiday traditions. “Christmas Eve: Chinese takeout, PJs on early and lots of games!” That sounds like fun to us!

Our Facebook community weighed in, too. Cadi Jordan said, “We start the day by reading the Christmas Story and singing Happy Birthday to Jesus!”

Planiclik loves, “Baking Christmas cookies!” We do, too.

Lael Murdoch Dyck shared, “A new book and new PJs on Christmas Eve! Makes for great Christmas morning pics when everyone is in their new PJs.”

Amber Krause Strocel said, “We make time to drive around and look at Christmas lights every year. We’ve also been to Luminescence at the aquarium the past couple of years, and enjoyed that a lot.”

Mama and the City is missing her old traditions, and searching for a new one. “Before: get together (ALL the 50 members) with the family at my grandmas’. Awesome. An all day (2) celebration. Women in the kitchen making delicious breakfast, lunch and getting things ready for the night BBQ while chatting all day long. Kids – all day play. Men: all day drinking and “fixing” the BBQ. Sleep over at grandma’s and next day more eating and playing and drinking. NOW: trying to find a substitute for the fun I used to have. A good tradition for the little one and for me.”
