Vancouver Mom to Follow: Andrea Barr

Meet Andrea Barr, a certified career and life coach, podcast host, event collaborator, and busy mom of two. Andrea is passionate about empowering parents to lead fulfilling careers without sacrificing their family life—or their well-being. Through her coaching business, popular podcast All Figured Out, and community events, she’s helping Vancouver parents take charge of their careers and lives with clarity, strategy, and freedom.

In this Q&A, Andrea shares her journey as a coach and mother, the local gems her family loves, and how motherhood has shaped her personally and professionally.

Describe your business or career role.

I’m a certified career and life coach, and I specialize in helping parents create careers that support their lives—not the other way around. My work includes 1:1 coaching, group programs, live events, and my podcast All Figured Out, where I share practical career strategies and personal growth insights.

At the heart of everything I do is a deep belief that parents don’t have to choose between professional ambition and family life. With the right support and tools, they can lead with intention, take strategic risks, and avoid burnout in the process.

While I’ve worked with clients around the world, I’m especially proud of building a supportive, values-driven community of parents right here in Vancouver.

What makes you a Vancouver Mom to follow?

As both a mom and a coach, I’m on a mission to help other parents stop feeling like they have to “power through” careers that don’t fit. My coaching practice and podcast give parents tools to make intentional career moves that align with who they are and what they want for their families.

My events—including one I recently co-hosted with Formula Fig—offer safe, inspiring spaces for parents to reflect, connect, and grow. The community we’re building is real, vulnerable, and full of heart—and I think that’s something many parents in Vancouver are craving.

Tell us about your family.

We’re a family of four: my husband Scotty, our daughter Addy (4), and our son Brody (2). Our unofficial family motto is “love & adventure always,” and we try to live by that whether we’re paddle boating, hiking, or dancing barefoot in the kitchen before bed.

Life with two little ones is exactly what you’d imagine—a messy, beautiful mix of giggles, spills, questions, chaos, and connection. Some days feel like magic; others feel like meltdown city (and not just from the kids!). But through it all, we try to keep it real, stay grateful, and make space for fun.

What are your go-to activities, places, or hidden gems in Metro Vancouver that you and your family love?

We spend a lot of weekends outdoors. Some of our go-to spots include the trails around Lynn Canyon, Strathcona Lookout Park, and visits to Maplewood Farms—where the goat names alone are worth the trip.

In the summer, we love waffles and fresh berries at Krause Berry Farms, and for a laid-back family treat, United Strangers in North Van is our spot for coffee and sprinkle doughnuts.

On rainy days, we’re often at community centre drop-ins in East or North Van, or cozied up in the kid section at Science World. We’re also big fans of family-friendly theatre—Arts Umbrella and Presentation House Theatre both offer amazing shows that our whole crew can enjoy.

What’s something motherhood has taught you about yourself?

Motherhood has pushed me to live in alignment with my values more than anything else in my life. I never want my kids to grow up thinking burnout or resentment is the norm. If something’s not working, I want to show them it’s okay to make a change.

Becoming a mom helped me uncover a deeper purpose—supporting other parents in building lives they truly love. Coaching and podcasting are the ways I do that, but the mission is always the same: to help families thrive and to make space for what matters most.
