Burnaby Village Museum is celebrating BC Heritage Week with guided tours exploring Burnaby’s food history throughout the day (10 am, noon, and 2 pm). Museum interpreters will take you through key exhibits, gardens, and the delecTABLE: Burnaby Food Journeys exhibit – each tour runs about an hour and 45 minutes. It’s perfect for families with kids five and up, but you need to pre-register since space is limited. Just know that the main museum, carousel, and cafe will be closed that day, but the special programming makes it worth the trip.

Family Day Activities in Coquitlam
February 15-16
Coquitlam is going all out for Family Day weekend with tons of free and low-cost activities! The big highlight is Lights at Lafarge at Town Centre Park – Metro Vancouver’s largest free light display runs until February 16, with special Family Day fun happening from 5-8 pm on both Sunday and Monday (plus a “Mystery at the Lake” event Sunday evening). If your kids need to burn some energy, hit up City Centre Aquatic Complex or Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex for drop-in skating and swimming all weekend. There are also community centre celebrations happening at Pinetree, Poirier, Maillardville, and Town Centre Park with arts, crafts, games, and sports drop-ins for different age groups. Just remember that most activities need pre-registration 48 hours ahead, so don’t wait until the last minute! It’s basically a full weekend of fun without having to drive all over the Lower Mainland.
