CTYP is thrilled to open up the 2018-2019 season with this beautifully imaginative and fun tale about friendships, mischief and magic. Our Teen Shakespeare participants are back with their boundless energy and enthusiasm to bring one of Shakespeare’s best-loved plays to the stage.

Excitement is in the air as Theseus, the Duke of Athens, prepares to marry Hippolyta, and a group of eccentric workers attempt to rehearse a play for the celebrations. Meanwhile, a young couple ignores a father’s disproval and plans to run away together while their best friends and admirers chase in pursuit. The four friends and oddball actors run into the forest, blissfully unaware that all is not well in the fairy world.

Oberon and Titania, the King and Queen of the fairies, have fallen out and Oberon asks his mischievous servant, Puck, to help play a trick on Titania. He asks Puck to collect a special flower, whose sap can make anyone fall in love with the first person they see. And so, when Titania awakes to discover a strange man with the head of a donkey, she instantly becomes besotted with him. Puck also uses the magical flower on the young people, causing unexpected results. Love and laughter prevail in this lighthearted comedy!
