Main Street Baby – Coming Soon!

When I connected with Joanna Mileos owner of Granville Island Toys a couple of weeks ago, she excitedly told me about Main Street Baby, the new store she and husband Craig Hartman are planning on opening right beside the Granville Island Toys location on Main St.

Joanna, who follows her gut and leads with passion, thought having a store featuring new clothing for kids just made sense. “Main Street [the area] has so many clothing stores for mom – both new and consignment,” says Joanna. “For kids, there are mainly consignment shops, but no stores with new clothing.”

Main Street Baby will be Joanna’s third retail venture, after purchasing the original Granville Island Toys in March 2007 and opening its second location on Main St. just nine months later.

I had a sneak peek of the store last week and even without the merchandise in place, you can tell that the boutique is going to be gorgeous.  The overall vibe of the store will be in calming whites. The fixtures are made from wood reclaimed from old houses and feel both modern, urban and classic at the same time.

Along with the mainstays like Kushies and Cloud B, Main Street Baby’s selection will emphasize Canadian and local, including brands like Vancouver’s Popos Poncho, Agoo Apparel and Beba Bean.
