Event Details

The VSO is thrilled to celebrate its 100th Anniversary Season with a gift to the community: the VSO’s performance with Grammy-award winning artist Queen Latifah on June 29th at Deer Lake Park will now be a free and accessible concert for the whole community to enjoy.

ABOUT THE CONCERT

Film and music legend Queen Latifah comes to Vancouver for this special event you don’t want to miss! With a Grammy award and six nominations for albums in jazz, pop and rap, an Oscar nomination for her role in Chicago, and dozens of other film and television roles, this Renaissance woman defies genres with her compelling voice and presence. Queen Latifah will perform some of her best-loved standards, including “Poetry Man” and “Georgia Rose” from her 2007 album Trav’lin’ Light, songs such as “I Know Where I’ve Been” and “California Dreamin’ ” from popular musicals including Chicago and Hairspray, and more – accompanied by the lush sounds of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

VSO and Music Director Otto Tausk return to Deer Lake for its 32nd annual summer performance. Each year the VSO’s outdoor concerts in the beautiful Burnaby park attract more than 10,000 concertgoers. New this year, the VSO will add family activities and participation from the VSO School of Music to entertain families and concert-goers in the afternoon as well as a pre-concert performance by members of the VSO Orchestral Institute.

This concert is free to the public!
