Event Details

Keen-eyed youngsters, and adults alike, will be able to spot Scuba Claus during his daily dives spreading holiday cheer and magic. Back by popular demand, visitors can also pose for a photo with Scuba Claus, between 10 am and 3:30 pm this Saturday, December 7, Sunday, December 8, Saturday, December 14, Sunday, December 15 and December 20 through 24. (Cost: $23)

Soak up the season while exploring the Vancouver Aquarium decked in holiday décor. Returning holiday favourites include our ‘shocking’ Electric eel-powered Christmas tree (with feedings daily at 11:30am), the tot-friendly kelp maze, and the picture-perfect jelly snow globeSee if you can find our holiday “mistle-toad” near our ‘Frogs Forever?’ Gallery to sneak a kiss or two with your loved ones. Also back again is the marine debris tree created by Tofino-based artist Pete Clarkson, made entirely of items collected from shoreline cleanups on the west coast of Vancouver Island — a confronting reminder to visitors to think green during the holidays.

After wandering the galleries with cocoa in hand, it’s time for a journey to the North Pole in the Vancouver Aquarium’s 4-D theatre. THE POLAR EXPRESS™ 4D Experience® plays daily. Check our “What’s On” page for show times.

Visitors are also encouraged to explore the “green giving” options in the Aquarium Gift Shop. Check off your holiday wish lists with presents that support ocean conservation and reduce harmful single-use plastic like Aquadopt Kits, the gift of membership, and sustainable plastic alternatives. Each gift helps fund Ocean Wise’s research, education and conservation programs like the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Centre, The Plastics Lab, and our Ocean Wise Sustainable Seafood Program.

Catch Scuba Claus’ dives daily at 12:30pm and 2:30pm November 21 through December 24, with all other holiday displays at the Vancouver Aquarium continuing until January 5, 2020. For more information and schedules, please visit vanaqua.org
