BC Vancouver’s Open House  & Food Bank Day is back on December 6th!

Tour your public broadcaster, meet your favourite personalities for a great cause

On Friday, December 6, 2019, CBC Vancouver’s annual Open House & Food Bank Day is back at 700 Hamilton Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Everyone in the community is invited to visit their favourite public broadcaster for this yearly fundraiser for B.C.’s local food banks. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities including newsroom tours, live radio broadcasts featuring musical guests and meet-and-greets with local and national CBC Vancouver hosts and reporters. Last year, British Columbians generously donated a record-breaking $823,191 to address the growing food gap in the province.

“Food security and access to nutritious food is vital for healthy, thriving communities,” says Johnny Michel, senior managing director, CBC British Columbia and Alberta. “While it is unfortunate that food banks are still needed, as the public broadcaster, we are happy to do our part and support our community with our Open House and Food Bank Day, until hunger is a problem of the past.”

Attendees will have the chance to meet CBC Vancouver’s Stephen Quinn, Gloria Macarenko, Michelle Eliot, Sheryl MacKay, Mike Killeen, Anita Bathe, Dan Burritt, Brett Soderholm and Lien Yeung. The National’s Ian Hanomansing and Erica Johnson of Go Public will also be in attendance.

Food bank volunteers will be accepting cash donations in person and over the phone on December 6, but donations are also being accepted online right now at cbc.ca/openhouse.
