LET’S COME TOGETHER TO LIGHT UP NEW WEST!

We are excited to introduce the Shine Bright New West holiday campaign. Residents, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to collectively light up the city with bright and festive holiday light displays on homes and storefronts.

Shine Bright and unite in the spirit of the season while respecting the current Public Health Orders.

Please note: Until further notice, gatherings or socials of any kind are not permitted. Activities included as part of this campaign should also be done with your immediate household or core bubble. Non-essential travel to New Westminster is also not recommended right now.

HOLIDAY LIGHT DISPLAYS

NEW HOLIDAY DISPLAYS:

We are excited to share that the City has partnered with several community organizations to add new lighting displays this year! Each light display is featured on the Light Display Map.

Hyack Square: In partnership with the Downtown New West BIA, we are excited to offer an interactive, innovative light display.

Downtown Area: The Downtown New West BIA also added several other featured light displays as part of Shine Bright Downtown.

Queensborough Community Centre: Welcome to a winter candy land! In partnership with the Queensborough Special Programs Committee, check-out this fun display located on the north side of the building.

Queensborough Community Centre Entrance: At the entrance of Queensborough Community Centre, the City’s Queensborough Horticulture Staff Team has created a beautiful holiday train display made out of recycled materials.

Port Royal Park: In partnership with the Queensborough Residents Association, this special display named Community Together includes a tree in tribute to the essential service workers of New Westminster and ornaments decorated by Queen Elizabeth Elementary School students.

Three Selfie Stations: Each selfie station features a different lit holiday motif including a snowflake, star and ornament. Perfect for a special photo! Find a station at Queensbrough Community Centre, Sappterton Plaza and on 6th Avenue next to the Public Library.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

SELF-GUIDED WALKING ROUTES:

To help you discover a variety of light displays, we have included several self-guided walking route tours. Please use the filters on the Light Display Map to find a suitable walking route. Don’t forget to check out the featured walking route in the Downtown Area, as part of Shine Bright Downtown.

HOLIDAY LIGHT GAM​ES:

While exploring the lights around the community try one of the fun games below and hunt for different festive lights. Print or view these PDF’s on your mobile device as you are out walking.

COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREES:

Help get the Christmas season off to a bright start! The community is invited to help decorate designated trees (outdoors) at Century House, Centennial Community Centre and Queensborough Community Centre. Come by and hang your simple ornament or inspiring quote. Please note ornaments cannot be returned.
