Held on the first Saturday of June every year, Hats Off Day is a day where local businesses take their “hats off” to the community. E. Hastings Street will be shut down to traffic, and filled with excitement, music, street performers, kids activities, and delicious food from Gamma Avenue to Boundary Road. With multiple activities and attractions for all ages, each block has something to experience. This is a free event.

Hats Off Day is a community-driven event featuring the best that the Burnaby Heights had to offer. It features a colourful main-street style parade, followed by an amazing street party. Burnaby’s biggest and favourite festival is planned and driven by volunteers, community groups, the Heights Merchants Association BIA (a non-profit organization), and its members. Now in its 35th year, Hats Off Day has been voted “Best Festival in Burnaby” every year since 2005, and today attracts more than 50,000 visitors annually from across the lower mainland.
