Description:

In many international cultural beliefs, stories, and myths, we find stories of female figures with strong connections to water and the ocean. What happens in these stories? And what are the real experiences of women who have travelled the seas?

This Printmaking for kids workshop will focus on women’s connections to the water in both myth and in history. Kids will learn about Jewish immigrant Zosia Bluman, who left her home in Poland to travel to Vancouver.

In this workshop, we will also hear an Inuit story of the sea goddess Sedna.

Following the storytelling part, kids will be making paper prints Sedna, mermaids and Chinese Junk boats using a traditional Japanese printing technique.

Best suited for kids 6+
