Celebrate the start of spring at Blossom at Metropolis at Metrotown!

Cherry blossoms are a major spring highlight in the City. Vancourites look forward to snapping pics and gazing upwards at the delicate petals. Sadly, their arrival has been delayed by snow, hail and all kinds of weather woes. But fear not blossom lovers, you can indulge in the ancient art of Hanami (blossom viewing) indoors at Metropolis at Metrotown until March 31, 2019.

This surprisingly soothing exhibit brings pink cherry blossoms indoors for a month-long installation in Grand Court. Over 250,000 blossoms combine with mirrored spheres for a reflective, zen-like experience. Stop by, sit on one of the pink benches, relax, and take some photos of this infinite blossom experience created by Vancouver Hfour studio, the wizards behind Spring Lights Illumination at Queen Elizabeth Park.

Of course, there’s more to this installation than blossom admiration, Metropolis is also hosting weekday and evening performances and workshops hosted by the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Kids and parents can make their own sakura artwork, learn to play Japanese chess, or learn to dance a traditional Japanese dance.

Sign up for a Workshop Wednesday class with MUJI to learn how to make your own origami sakura blossom or to learn the modern art of brush calligraphy.

As added incentive, visit the Grand Court and enter for a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree daily!
