No More Stuck Heads With Bambino Zip’s Back Zipper

Guest post by Ana Calabresi, VancouverMom.ca Reviewer.

We had just finished our pizza dinner on a breezy Friday evening. While I was busy helping my six-year-old with her winter jacket, my toddler was busy unzipping her grey fleece sweater, just moments after I had put it on her. “It’s cold outside, dear, you must wear your sweater,” I told her, zipping it up once again.

If you are a mother of a two-year-old, I am pretty sure you can relate to the scene described above. That’s why I was thrilled when I found out about Bambino Zip, Little Bambino Children’s Wear’s back zip sweater.

I received a size one taupe hoodie with Chinese lanterns and cherry blossoms on the front. The Asian-inspired graphics really make a statement–they are so hip! The sweater is made from bamboo fibres and organic cotton; it feels really soft to touch and seems very comfortable for kids to play in.

The tag had instructions to wash and dry the sweater before use because it would shrink. I tried it on my daughter before washing and was positively surprised to notice it was big on her (she’s 25 months old). After washing and drying, it did shrink a bit, but still fit my daughter nicely. In fact, I think she will use her trendy sweater for quite awhile. Two thumbs up for Little Bambino sizing.

The zip on the back has to be my favorite feature though. It’s one of the most brilliant ideas I’ve ever seen when it comes to children’s clothing. Really, how come no one thought of this before? It’s very easy to put it on your kid (no more stuck heads!), and so convenient to take it out when your little one is sleeping on your shoulder. Not to mention that, of course, kids can’t unzip it at all. I got lots of compliments from friends on my daughter’s new cool sweater.

As with many other Vancouver businesses, mom entrepreneurs Lindsey Marston and Alisa Smith, Little Bambino founders, also care about our environment. Their line of baby clothes is made from eco-friendly fibres like bamboo and organic cotton. And they only use low-impact dyes, water-based inks and nickel-free snaps and zippers.

Besides the original back zip sweater, Little Bambino also sells pants and bodysuits. The Bambino Zip ($49.95) comes in two sizes (six months and one year) and two colour options (blue for boys and taupe for girls).

You can buy Little Bambino clothing online.
