Summer isn’t over yet! How can we tell? Well it’s hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk, and there are an endless stream of family friendly summer festivals around Metro Vancouver. This weekend is hopping with the free Savour Summer Festival at the River District, the world famous Abbotsford Air Show and the community mural festival in Mount Pleasant.

Savour Summer Festival
River District Town Centre Plaza, August 11
Head down to the River District for this free family friendly event with music, entertainment, giveaways, a market, photobooth and food trucks. The Aug 11 event has a great lineup including Paw Patrol, Arts Umbrella Dance Company as well as two bands, free face and mural painting and balloon animals for the kids. The first 200 people will receive a free Savour Summer hat and a popsicle!
Movement is for Every Body Exhibition Launch
ArtStarts Gallery, August 11
On Saturday, celebrate the opening of the Movement is for Every Body exhibition at this kid-centred launch party. Between 11 am – 1 pm, there will be by-donation, dynamic drop-in art experience for families and kids in the ArtStarts Gallery. Play with shadows in their silhouette booth, make your own cyborg, and draw while you dance! Suitable for ages 12 and under accompanied by an adult.
Abbotsford International Airport, Aug 10-12, 2018
Want to wow the kids? Pick up a family pass to the famous Abbotsford Airshow August 10-12 and check out the Snowbirds and other snazzy spitfires including the Blue Angels zooming overhead. The MacDonald’s Kids Zone features inflatable toys, bouncy castles, a climbing wall, as well as aerospace presentations from Science World.
Vancouver Mural Festival

Check out the latest colourful mural additions to our cityscape at the 2018 Vancouver Mural Festival’s annual street party. The free event is super kid friendly with dance and skateboarding and all-age craft and paint zones throughout the party.
West Vancouver seawall, Aug 3 -12, 2018
This free West Van fest features musical performances, art exhibitions and demos, culinary events all along the water’s edge. There are kids activities and of course the beach and the spray park and playground at John Lawson Park.
