The Blanket-Share Exhibition is a unique event, where exquisitely hand-sewn blankets from Mi Soo Park will be on sale, with partial proceeds going to support

BC Children’s Hospital. Each blanket is hand-sewn from the highest quality fabric and features one of Mi Soo’s one-off designs, and each one is so beautifully designed, that it can be enjoyed not just now, but as a gorgeous family heirloom, that can be passed down and shared by future generations.

Mi Soo’s story of her adventures into the world of textiles is just as warm as her blankets. Two years ago, when she learned that she was about to become a grandmother for the first time, Mi Soo spent hours scouring baby stores to find the perfect blanket for her first grandchild, but she was disappointed by what she found: low-quality products made with polyester, at an exorbitant price.

So, Mi Soo, who up until that point in her life had been involved in the world of academia, decided to make her own blankets.

It was during a trip to the book store to find inspiration, that Mi Soo happened upon a book by British textile artist, Janet Bolton and Mi Soo was so inspired by the simplistic whimsy of Bolton’s designs, that she decided to travel to the UK to take a workshop with this world-renowned textile artist.

Whilein the UK, Mi Soo not only took a workshop to learn about the intricacies of Bolton’s hand-sewn textile process, but she also got permission from Boltonto use her work as the inspiration for her blanket project.

It wasn’t long after Mi Soo created her first blanket for her grandson that, “The next thing you know, my daughter’s friends were asking, ‘Where did you get that blanket, I want one for my child?’ and so my little non-profit social enterprise has grown from there.”

Each blanket that Mi Soo makes is hand-sewn, from the highest quality, 100 per cent cotton fabric, is easy to wash, affordably priced, and guaranteed to not only last, but bring hours of joy.

During this pop-up show at the Visual Space Gallery, Mi Soo will have 100 blankets for sale, featuring ten different designs. Each blanket will be on sale for $120, with partial proceeds going to BC Children’s Hospital.
