Talking Stick Festival is a vibrant celebration of Indigenous artistry, talent and knowledge from around the world, presented through theatrical performances, music, dance, film, visual art, affordable family friendly events and shows – and more!

Events for kids and families include:

Sing, Dance, Tell Me A Story! (Family Fun Day) (Feb. 17, noon-3pm) at the Cultch is a full Family Day afternoon full of fun and interesting activities. Visit TeePee Theatre’s array of traditional First Nation stories performed in teepees by young performers in traditional regalia; see Hoop dance storyteller Jessica McMann and Fancy dancer Nyla Carpentier, and thrill to Our Creation Story from Mortal Coil and Tsatsu Stalqayu (Coastal Wolf Pack). Every age can enjoy the popular Celebration of Powwow Culture and the Indigenous Artisan Fair (Feb. 23, noon-5pm, Roundhouse), and the music and dance-filled Métis Fair (Feb. 29, noon-4pm, Roundhouse). Both are pay-what-you-can.

UNYA’s #Indigenuity: Concrete Smudge showcases the work of artists from the young urban Indigenous community (Feb. 25, Wise Hall).

Th’owxiya:  The Hungry Feast Dish. From Axis Theatre, this exciting Kwantlen tale of an old and powerful spirit comes to the Cultch from Feb 18- 21 (Book tickets at [email protected]), and to the Musqueam Community Centre Feb 22 (pay-what-you-can).
