Back then, there were only a few nice modern diaper bag options for moms (I ended up with a wonderful bag from Skip Hop that’s still in production today). Today, as I browse the baby aisles for my third child, I’m blown away by the lovely and fashionable selection for moms of every different style and fashion sense.

Although the I’Coo Pluto stroller might not be as well known as its Maclaren competitor, this stroller does provide some extra value and interesting features. Top All-Round Stroller: Quinny Buzz 3 Stroller

In the all-round baby stroller category, Lusso Baby recommended the Quinny Buzz 3 stroller – hands down. And we can’t disagree. If you’re someone who loves a clean sleek design, might do some light activity and don’t need to accommodate a second child, then this is an excellent buy. When Lusso Baby owners Arash Fasihi and Shima Javadi recently had their baby, they purchased the Stokke Xplory Complete stroller. Arash demonstrated the stroller for me and couldn’t say enough about how much he and his wife loved it. I’m a sucker for unique modern design. I adore anything unique and eye-catching and I especially love beauty when it’s coupled with excellent functionality. Top Double Stroller: Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stand-On Double Stroller

Lots depends on what you need a double stroller for: you may have twins, in which case a side-by-side stroller is probably the best choice. You might want to accommodate a second child in the future, so a stroller that allows you to add on a second seat is a terrific option. However, an interesting option is the Joovy Caboose family of sit-and-stand strollers. If you’re looking for a double stroller that can accommodate a baby and older active child, Lusso Baby felt that the Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stand-On stroller is a clever option. I’m a sucker for unique modern design. I love anything unusual and eye-catching and I especially love beauty when it’s coupled with excellent functionality. Norwegian company Stokke seems to have the modern touch – from their iconic Stokke Trip Trapp high chair to their Stokke Sleepi crib – and the Stokke Xplory Complete stroller is no exception.

The Stokke Xplory Complete stroller key feature is that it brings baby closer to mom. The seat raises so your baby is up high, rather than at floor level, which means that you can interact and converse with your baby more intimately. Raise the seat and your baby can enjoy the sights at the Vancouver Aquarium. Lower and bring the seat to table height so that your baby can be part of mealtime and the conversation.

The stroller breaks down into two pieces – a chassis and seat – and also comes with a bassinet for infants who can’t support themselves in a seat. I consider a bassinet an excellent bonus feature since it can potentially replace the need for you to buy a bed-side bassinet for your newborn. And unlike other bassinets, the Stokke Xplory Complete’s bassinet has a hard shell, which means that it can be used as a standalone bed – perfect for a travel bed. The rear pocket also supports the seat by itself, allowing the seat to be used as a standalone seat.

But the versatility of this stroller doesn’t stop there. You can face baby rearwards and forwards. The under carriage basket has a huge capacity, but also snaps into a tidy flat shape when not in use. The unique oval shaped handle, which raises and lowers, gives people different comfort options for their grip preference.

It seems that the stroller is also popular with the stars: Russel Crowe, Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker are all rumoured to have the Stokke Xplory Complete.

And if you’re worried about whether or not this stroller will grow with your family, Stokke has recently released the Stokke Xplory Rider, a wheel board accessory that let’s older children hitch a ride whenever they’re tired.

Who should buy this stroller:

Anyone who wants a little luxury in their life for both indoors and out and who wants the extra features like an excellent ergonomic handling system and the multi-use bassinet and seat.

We had a chance to chat with Lusso Baby about their favourite umbrella baby stroller. They recommended the I’Coo Pluto stroller – part of the Rockstar Baby family. VancouverMom.ca arranged a test drive so we could check out the I’Coo Pluto stroller for ourselves.

What VancouverMom.ca thinks:

Although the I’Coo Pluto stroller might not be as well known as its Maclaren competitor, this stroller does provide some extra value and interesting features. The I’Coo Pluto stroller comes with a car seat adapter that fits the Graco and Peg Perego infant seats and any other major infant seat manufacturer, making this umbrella stroller truly versatile and able to work for a newborn. Babies also get a comfy ride with a little extra padding in the seat, as well as suspension in four of the wheels. The stroller’s one button buckle release makes it a breeze to unlatch your child. Like all umbrella strollers, the I’Coo Pluto collapses to a petite size and its light weight makes it easy to lift and store into even the smallest car’s trunk.

The stroller also has a little extra bling in its design, with shiny large handles and finishing, along with a terrific selection of six colours (we like it in Plum). You also have the option of purchasing a seat pad in a contrasting colour for greater personalization (check out the look of brown stroller with a pink seat pad – sweet!). You can also flip the pads over for a soft fleecy side that offers even more comfort for baby.

I particularly liked the foot brake bar, which allows you to engage both rear wheel brakes at the same time (many other strollers require you to set both brakes). On the flip side, I found the handles to be a bit large and awkward for my hands.

Who should buy this stroller:

Anyone who wants a good all-round umbrella stroller and wants something a little more unique in its design.  This stroller is sure to make you and baby look great when you’re checking out the boutiques in your neighbourhood.
