YVR Mural art: Photo ops you don’t want to miss!

Vancouver’s natural beauty has long called on locals and visitors alike to step into the photographer role; and now the talents of various artists creating picture perfect murals and street art are giving even more opportunity for inspiring photo explorations.

Charge your phone, pull out your camera and bring a friend because these creative backgrounds make for some photo ops that you won’t want to miss out on.

YVR Mural Art: Photo Ops You Don’t Want to Miss

14th & Granville – East side of 3002 Granville Street (Meinhardts)

Lions, tigers, zebras oh my – this South Granville mural is calling all wild children and those with imaginations! There are no animals to be found here (that’s all you to place), but the black, white, and gold print gives a safari feel to this otherwise urban setting. If you want to bring the theme home with you, head over to Lusso Baby to pick up a 4ft tall Melissa & Doug Giraffe…or maybe just swing by the Vancouver Public Library (Firehall Branch on 1455 West 10th) to pick up some safari inspired books.

1817 West 4th Avenue – Guide: Side of building west of 4th & Burrard

An angelic greeting as you enter Kitsilano, the 45ft by 25ft wings spanning across this building’s wall are not to be missed. Add this stop into your West 4th stroll or on your way to one of Kitsilano’s great stops. The design of the mural welcomes your interaction and there’s no restrictions when it comes to who will love ‘trying on’ oversized wings for the perfect shot. Want to see all the other Kitsilano angels? Check out #kitswings on Instagram and don’t forget to add your photo to the mix.

Columbia & 4th Street, Vancouver – North side of 65 West 4th (Jukebox Print)

This may very well be one the happiest buildings in the entire neighborhood with its wraparound rainbow dressing. Not an official mural, these vibrant stripes make up the outer walls of a local office – very fittingly a commercial printer – and will surely brighten up even the gloomiest of rainy Vancouver days. No need to search for a pot of gold here – your little ones will look so adorable among the colors and all you have to do is snap away.

Want to make an afternoon of it? There are several more murals on the adjacent block, Big Rock Brewery right there and also Hinge Park in Olympic Village, perfect for toddlers, just a few blocks North.
