Favourite Things: Jeanine Gordon

Jeanine Gordon is the creator of Cottonkind, a brand of eco-friendly, stylish and affordable cloth diapers made in Vancouver.  Cottonkind diapers allow parents to enjoy the environmental benefits of using cloth diapers while still letting baby’s style shine with funky patterns and bright colors. Being green doesn’t need to be boring!

Favorite thing for your kids

Music. I take my son to kinder-music classes and we always have fun tunes playing at home. He loves drumming, playing his tambourine, etc. It’s a great way to have fun, get your sillies out and get creative all at the same time.

Favorite thing for you

Running my own business. It gives me such a sense of accomplishment and pride to put my brand out into the world and I love the challenges and perks that come with being my own boss. It also feels great to make a living with products that are good for the planet. When you’re a mom your whole world becomes about your kids, so it’s important to have something that is just about you.

Favorite thing for work

All of the funky printed fabrics that I use for my diapers. I used to work in a serious corporate environment and now I’m surrounded by hot pink leopard print, colorful cows and rocket ships. It makes my job so much fun and reminds me not to take things so seriously!

Favorite place in Vancouver

Any of our gorgeous beaches. The ocean, sand, views of the mountains, tall trees – we really are spoiled.

Favorite birthday gift idea

A colorful set of handmade puppets from 3H Craftworks Society. They are a non-profit organization that sells crafts made by adults with mental disabilities. Their felt hand puppets are such a fun gift.

Favorite Vancouver restaurant

The Eatery on West Broadway. I love the crazy sushi concoctions they come up with. I also met my husband there so it’s a favorite for that reason too!

Favorite kids’ book

Please Don’t Upset PU Zorilla by Lynn Rowe Reed. It’s so silly, that even grown-ups can’t help laugh. Parents like to be entertained too!
