The research has been done, the data has been analyzed and the results are unanimous: all mom wants is a day to herself for a little rest and relaxation. So, Mom… where should you go to find this R&R? Here are some suggestions on how to spend the perfect solo (aka childless!) day in the Vancouver. You can fill up the day with all the suggestions or you can pick and choose what appeals to you (maybe you never leave the spa?).

Five great spots to hit for Mom’s Day Out!

Barre Fitness

A post shared by Barre Fitness (@barrefitness) on

Start your day off with a barre class at their original location in Yaletown. Classes start as early as 6:30am on weekdays and 8am on the weekend, and run throughout the day. It’s a great way to get your body moving in an incredibly positive and fun environment.

1038 Mainland St., Vancouver
(Other locations on the North Shore, Gastown, Port Moody and South Surrey)

Prado Cafe

Grab a coffee and breakfast at Prado Cafe. You are guaranteed to get an amazing cup of coffee (the owner is a four-time top three placement for Canada at the World Barista Championships!). You can grab a snack or one of their incredible all day breakfast items at Prado Cafe + Kitchen. Almost everything is made in-house with local, organic and fresh ingredients.

4208 Fraser Street, Vancouver
(Other locations on West Hastings and Commercial)

Spartacus books

Spartacus Books is a nonprofit, volunteer-run bookstore in East Van that’s been open for 40 years. They are open every day and they encourage you to browse their eclectic collection as long as you like. They have free internet and computer access, comfy couches and complementary coffee and tea. (You may never leave!)

3378 Findlay Street, Vancouver

MeeT in Gastown

Meet up with friends for lunch at MeeT in Gastown. You’ll love the casual friendly atmosphere! MeeT in Gastown serves veggie friendly comfort food (all menu items are vegan and gluten free) and they have a great drink menu as well.

12 Water Street (the inner courtyard), Vancouver
(Second location on Main Street)

Absolute Spa

Treat yourself to a world class spa experience at Absolute Spa with a facial, manicure, massage or one of their other many services. You can also enjoy their relaxation and steams rooms before and after your services and, at the Century Plaza location, you’ll be treated to a spa salad after your appointment. The whole experience is like a little slice of heaven.

1015 Burrard Street (in the Century Plaza Hotel), Vancouver
(Other locations in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel and the River Rock Casino Resort)

The Cascade Room

If you’re not ready to head home yet, meet friends at The Cascade Room for a drink (or two). Their extensive cocktail menu could entertain you for hours! And The Cascade Room is one of the first straw-free restaurants in Vancouver. To reduce plastic waste, they have eliminated straws from their establishment. (Glass re-usable straws are available for $5.)

2616 Main Street, Vancouver
