What do you love about living in Vancouver with your family? Why was it the perfect fit for you?

I love our city! We now live just outside far enough to have extra space and close enough to pop in and play anytime we like. It’s the perfect fit for us because Vancouver is so laid back and family friendly, and has such a diverse offering.

What is one place you love to eat with your family as a Vancouver mom on the street?

We love to visit Society by Glowbal Group. They are family friendly without a chain feel to it. Always something yummy on the menu.

To you and your family what does Vancouver life mean?

Vancouver life means being able to do almost anything at any given time. Where else can you play in the snow and head down to the beach on a warm spring day?

What neighborhood-based events does your family always participate in and enjoy?

In the past we’ve enjoyed the Vancouver Children’s Festival. Things are shifting as they get older. Something we never miss is the Celebration of Light at English Bay in the Summer!

What do you love to do together as a family?

We love to get outdoors and enjoy nature, the Seawall, Vancouver Aquarium, trips to Whistler and local stay-cations sometimes too.

If you could change one thing about your neighborhood what would it be and why?

If I can could change one thing about our neighborhood specifically it would be to have larger off leash dog areas. We love our Labby!

We are actively involved at our church. We also give seasonally of household items and toys that we’re not using anymore to local charity. And we can’t forget the food bank!

To you, what does Vancouver have that the rest of BC doesn’t?

Vancouver has a rich and diverse culture that allows for fun outdoor time getting down and dirty with the ability to flip the superwoman switch and be dressed up at the ballet that evening.

What is the best part, in your opinion, about having your kids grow up in Vancouver?

Growing up in Vancouver? Nothing like it. I’m BC born and raised. We have unparalleled culture and the ability to expose our children to such diversity growing up to teach them a love for many things.

Where are your favorite places to shop in Vancouver?

Shopping in Vancouver is fun! Depends on what you’re looking for Gastown is a good time, South Granville, Strolling 4th ave and Main St. We like to be outside so these pockets work well. We’re not big shoppers but being able to get in and out somewhere without being locked indoors is always a plus. Who doesn’t like shopping local either?

Thanks so much, Cadi, for sharing your viewpoint as a Vancouver mom on the street! If you’d like to share the high points of your neighbourhood with us in an upcoming mom on the street feature, drop us a line at vancouvermom.ca/contact.
