Leading Moms: Ratana Stephens on Food and Family
On October 3, 2012 VancouverMom.ca teamed up with our friends at Modern Mama and Entrepreneur Mom Now Vancouver to present Leading Moms. The day was full of inspiration, as we highlighted moms who are difference-makers in a variety of fields, from fashion to politics to business to the arts to science, and a whole lot more. We were treated to talks, videos, musical performances and a fashion show. We ate breakfast inside the H.R. MacMillan Science Centre, and we ate lunch outside in the sunshine. We were energized and motivated by the whole experience.

Ratana Stephens of Nature’s Path Organic Foods
Ratana began her career in India as a college lecturer. She met and married Arran Stephens in 1969 and moved to Canada, soon joining his small but growing vegetarian restaurant enterprise. They started Nature’s Path Foods in 1984 out of the back of that restaurant. Today, Ratana is co-CEO and COO of the successful organic food company, and is often described as the ‘heart’ of the company. In 2009, Ratana was recognized with the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award along with several other awards for community service. She and Arran are also parents of three daughters and a son. In her address at Leading Moms, she talked about food, family and business. Ratana is truly a role model for entrepreneurial women, who is committed to opportunities that meet the needs of people and planet.
