Top 3 ways to inspire business-minded, financially-savvy kids

“What will my children DO when they grow up!”  Seriously?! Careers seem to change as fast as the latest social media platform.. But one thing’s for sure, entrepreneurial skills will never go out of style (even for those budding Youtubers). Here are a few wonderful programs for kids on how to hone their enterprising spirits and business mojo.

Young Entrepreneurs Learning Labs

YELL is  a fantastic way to encourage your child to make their big ideas become reality! This after-school enrichment program fosters your child’s enterprising spirit by teaching business and financial literacy skills as they start their own micro-business in a fun and experimental learning environment. With programs for three different age groups ranging from 7-15 year olds, kids learn how to set goals, become savvy spenders, and apply the basics of money management. In addition to developing an entrepreneurial mindset and gaining confidence as they achieve their goals, young entrepreneurs get to sell their products or services at Market Day. Once-per-week classes are happening now and new locations throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland will be added in September 2017.

Tinypreneurs

Tinypreneurs provides kids with a unique entrepreneurial and philanthropic experience! This free, everyone-welcome, festival-style event takes place on June 3, 2017, at Pier Park in New Westminster. Kids as young as seven are invited to showcase their talents and creativity, and learn first-hand how their decisions result in profits or loss. They’ll also have the chance to give back to the community (and children in need) by being encouraged to make donations from part of their profits to charity. Kids can register their business (or their family business) individually or with a team, and they’ll be eligible to win a $500 prize! Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, open now until April 15, 2017.
