Coco and Tini Skincare Cleans Up

The other day I received some samples of Coco & Tini’s new line of skincare products for babies and I set them aside on the bathroom counter, planning to try them out during the evening bath time. However, during dinner, my four-year-old decided to turn a cupful of mud over my toddler’s head. Mud dripped all down one side of her hair, over her ear and all down the back of her clothes.

Oh boy. I had to get my toddler into the bath, pronto. I turned off the stove and carried my toddler up the stairs. On the bright side, Coco & Tini no longer had to wait until after dinner! Now I could try them out right away.

Bubble bath fun

My almost two-year-old loved the simple characters on the labels and wanted to talk about each one as I used the various products. The bubble bath produced a pleasing tub full of bubbles from a small squirt of product, and the natural fragrance is simple and light. The shampoo lathered up easily and got all the mud out with no scrubbing required.

“No eyes!”

I rinsed as carefully as I could, but there was an inevitable splash in my toddler’s eyes and she cried out, “no eyes!” I always try to keep shampoo and other skincare products out of my toddler’s eyes, whether or not they are a tear-free formula, and I think she’d probably say, “no eyes!” even if I got plain water in them by accident. But still, it’s probably worth it to be especially careful while rinsing out the shampoo and detangler.

Detangler magic

The detangler was quite nice, and worth the extra rinsing that an additional product on her hair requires. We don’t normally use a conditioner, but the Coco & Tini detangler is very light and made combing her hair easy-peasy. It also had the lovely effect of making her baby curls very defined and curly, so her hair took on that beautiful cherubic curl instead of the usual toddler frizz. I’ll definitely use the detangler on a regular basis.

Washing up

The body wash is also very light and has sodium lauroyl sarcosinate as a foaming agent instead of the more dangerous sodium laurel/laureth sulfate that is ubiquitous in skincare products. My little one’s sensitive skin was happy and clear after using the body wash, and there was no trace of mud left on her skin at the end of the bath. The tub, however, had a lot of muck at the bottom of it!

The verdict

The end result? One clean, happy toddler and one relieved mom. Safe, natural ingredients and no tantrums over washing means we both enjoyed the bath time and I got to return to making dinner as quickly as possible.
