On October 9th, 2013 tickets went on sale for the awesome night of ultimate destruction, the ever so much fun Monster Jam tour! The big event happens Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 7:00pm at BC Place Stadium. We are one family who adds this to our list of what to do in Vancouver whenever it’s in town, and we are certainly excited to see it again.
What to do in Vancouver for Kid-Friendly Fun
For families Monster Jam offers a lot of fun. It isn’t bad on your wallet either, with tickets starting at just $15.00 for kids and $25.00 for adults (prices listed are advance purchase only; all tickets $5 more day of show). It will be a great night for all the kids, especially the big ones (i.e. – Daddy), to thoroughly enjoy and make lots of noise with tons of excitement.
One thing that makes this tour extra special is that the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour and Kids Help Phone are partnering up for the first time. They are lunching a campaign to create awareness about bullying. Their aim is to empower youth and encourage them to support each other, become more inclusive and embrace the differences that make all of us more amazing. They even touch on how they can stand up for what they know is right by defending others in a bullied situation, something that touches really close to home. This is just one more great reason to add the event to your list of what to do in Vancouver this winter.
Raising Awareness About Bullying
The campaign they are putting together involves a bullying awareness event that will be held at BC Place on January 31, 2014. At this event will be a ton of awesome local youth. There will also be a Kids Help Phone bullying awareness presentation (#MJStandUp), along with a call to action for everyone and a chance to sign a Monster Jam crush car! This is a really neat way to get all your kids excited for the event the next day when they get to see that car completely destroyed.
If you add the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour to your list of what to do in Vancouver you will experience approximately 12 foot tall custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. The monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds up to 100 miles per hour, clearly making them “epic” to the boys and girls in your household. To top it all off the trucks can fly up to 125 to 130 feet (about 14 cars side by side if not more) and up to 35 feet in the air if you believe it!
If you arrive at the event between 3:00 and 5:00pm you can join in with the Party in the Pits, giving your kids a chance to get up close to their favourite trucks and drivers. To really sweeten the deal for your little ones get a special pit pass for $10 for some VIP time.
